Twenty-five years on, The Office is still not about Slough
The Office turns twenty-five, but my connections to it came first. I photographed Slough’s title-sequence locations fifteen years before filming and heard my dialogue read by an unknown actor who would later appear in the show and, later still, win an Oscar. Beneath these coincidences lies a story about aspiration giving way to resignation, and whether the carpet you walk around on for eight hours a day is really all you share with your coworkers.
